Who Is Amelia Jane Henson?
Amelia Jane Henson attracts public interest mainly because she connects two prominent entertainment careers.
Her mother, Mia Sara, became widely known for playing Sloane Peterson in the 1986 John Hughes film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Her father, Brian Henson, is a director, producer, writer and puppeteer who currently serves as chairman of the board of The Jim Henson Company. People.com
Amelia is therefore part of the Henson family, but that family connection should not be confused with a professional career of her own. As of September 2026, reliable sources do not establish that she holds a public role at The Jim Henson Company or has developed a documented career in film or television.
How Old Is Amelia Jane Henson?
Amelia was born in 2005. PEOPLE described her as 20 in an article published on June 10, 2025, making her 21 in 2026. People.com
Some biography websites give more specific birth information, but an exact birthday is not consistently supported by authoritative or mainstream reporting. It is therefore more accurate to use 2005 as her confirmed public birth year rather than present an unsupported date.
The same caution applies to claims about her exact birthplace. Reliable sources reviewed for this article do not provide enough evidence to state a specific city as fact.
Amelia Jane Henson’s Mother, Mia Sara
Mia Sara is an American actress whose best-known work includes Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. After spending years largely outside the Hollywood spotlight, she returned to feature films with Mike Flanagan’s The Life of Chuck.
In a 2025 interview with PEOPLE, Sara discussed her two children, Dashiell and Amelia. She said that when they were younger, they found her famous Ferris Bueller role somewhat embarrassing. She also said they were excited about her return to acting. People.com
Sara’s comments are useful because Amelia rarely appears in mainstream interviews herself. Much of the most dependable recent information about her comes from coverage involving her mother.
In another PEOPLE interview in June 2025, Sara said she was living in Suffolk, England, with Brian Henson and her two children. That report described Amelia as 20 at the time. It represents a snapshot of the family’s circumstances in 2025 rather than proof of Amelia’s present residence in 2026. People.com
Her Father, Brian Henson
Brian Henson is the son of Jim and Jane Henson and has spent much of his professional life working in puppetry, television and film.
The Jim Henson Company’s official biography identifies him as chairman of its board of directors as well as a director, producer, writer and performer. His credits include work connected with Labyrinth, The Muppet Christmas Carol, Muppet Treasure Island, Farscape and other productions. Jim Henson Company
Brian also followed his father into the technical side of puppetry. The company’s biography describes his involvement in animatronics, digital puppetry and other performance technologies.
An official Jim Henson Company archive entry provides direct confirmation of Amelia’s place in Brian’s family. A 2012 Red Book archive page includes a photograph caption identifying “Brian Henson, his wife Mia and their daughter Amelia.” Jim Henson Company
Amelia Jane Henson’s Connection to Jim Henson
Jim Henson was Amelia’s paternal grandfather.
Jim and Jane Henson were creative partners in the early development of what became the Muppets. The Jim Henson Company’s official history identifies both Jim and Jane as founders and notes that their children included Brian Henson, born in 1963. Jim Henson Company
That makes the family line straightforward:
Jim Henson and Jane Henson → Brian Henson → Amelia Jane Henson
Jim Henson’s influence extended far beyond a single television program. His work helped establish characters and production techniques associated with Sesame Street, The Muppet Show, The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth. Jane Henson was also a performer, puppet designer, builder and business partner during the formative years of their work. Jim Henson Company
Amelia belongs to that family history, although there is no sound basis for assuming that she has chosen to follow the same professional path.
Does Amelia Jane Henson Have Siblings?
Amelia has an older maternal half-brother, Dashiell.
Mia Sara had Dashiell during her previous relationship with actor Jason Connery. PEOPLE reported in June 2025 that Sara’s children were Dashiell, then 28, and Amelia, then 20. The publication specifically identified Amelia as Sara’s daughter with Brian Henson. People.com
Because Dashiell and Amelia have the same mother but different fathers, they are maternal half-siblings.
What Does Amelia Jane Henson Do?
There is no well-established public answer.
As of September 2026, dependable sources reviewed for this article do not identify a confirmed university, degree, employer or profession for Amelia Jane Henson. She should therefore not be described as an actress, producer, filmmaker or Jim Henson Company executive without stronger evidence.
This distinction matters because search results contain several claims about her supposed education and entertainment work. Similar names can also create mistaken identities.
For example, an isolated acting database result or a biography page using a similar name is not enough to prove that the person credited is Mia Sara and Brian Henson’s daughter. A reliable biography should connect a professional credit to Amelia through authoritative evidence before presenting it as fact.
Is Amelia Jane Henson an Actress?
There is currently no strong evidence establishing Amelia Jane Henson as a professional actress.
Her parents’ careers make the possibility sound plausible, which may explain why the claim appears online. But family background is not evidence of someone’s occupation.
No verified acting career for Amelia is identified in the mainstream reporting or official Henson material reviewed for this article. Until a reliable professional source establishes such a connection, describing her simply as a member of the Henson family is more accurate.
What Is Known About Her Education?
Very little.
No reliable source reviewed for this profile identifies Amelia’s school, university, degree or academic field. Claims assigning a particular college or educational background to her should be treated cautiously unless they can be traced to Amelia, her family, an institution or another authoritative source.
Keeping that information marked as unknown is more accurate than filling gaps with assumptions.
Why So Little Is Publicly Known About Amelia
The available record shows a clear difference between Amelia’s family connections and her own public presence.
Brian Henson has an extensive official professional biography. Mia Sara has film credits and gives interviews. Jim and Jane Henson’s work is documented by the family company, museums and entertainment archives. Amelia, by contrast, appears mainly in family references rather than in a body of independent interviews or professional coverage. Jim Henson Company
That means a responsible profile of Amelia Jane Henson is necessarily narrower than biographies of her parents or grandparents. The confirmed picture is simple: she was born in 2005, is the daughter of Mia Sara and Brian Henson, is Jim and Jane Henson’s granddaughter, and has an older maternal half-brother.
Details beyond that—especially her profession, education, relationships, finances and exact current activities—should not be presented as established facts without better sourcing.
